MY REFLECTION BLOG

Module one focused heavily on Project Based Learning (or PBL) and the impact it had in classrooms. With PBL education being more hands on and creative, student engagement comes easier. Project based learning can help students grow and develop critical skills needed for life; like critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.

Module #1 Reflection

Module two highlights digital literacy and how it's shaped the classroom. With technological advancements occurring at a rapid rate, digital devices are used for almost all aspects of life. These devices have trained and rewired humans to process information differently. Since our learning habits have changed, our teaching practices need to change as well. Teachers need to be able to adapt to these new practices. With digital literacy students can now have knowledge on certain aspects than teachers. It's the teachers job to help guide the student with this information.

Module #2 Reflection

Module three focuses on assessment and the impact they have on a child's development. Comprehensive assessment for instance entails observing the whole system of assessing student understanding as a mechanism to improve teaching and learning. As educators we must be able to provide multiple strategies to help better assess where a student is struggling. Their individual strengths, weaknesses, and needs are what we need to be evaluating students on.

Module #3 Reflection

Module fours focal point was about multiliteracies and how we as society interept information differently. Each module and lesson plan we've gone over had emphasized in a certain way that students are individuals and they need to be taught that way. Not every student will process information the same, just as not every teacher will teach the same. Knowledge isn't just reciting rehearsed lines. Knowledge comes from learning and applying information to your life. With mulitliteracies, information can be communicated or displayed differently. It's the educators job to recognize that, as well as except that. It's also the educators job to teach it that way. Encourage individualization and student voice.
